WALK/STOP Game

(great to use when students seem tired or are not paying attention, wakes up their brain)

  1. Have students practice walking around the room when you say WALK and stop when you STOP. (Practice a few times)
  2. Explain to students that they will now walk when you say STOP and walk when you say STOP. (Practice a few times)
  3. Explain that you are going to add new directions. When you say JUMP, students need to stop and jump in place and when you say NAME, students need to whisper their name. (Practice a few times, including the WALK STOP)
  4. Explain to students that they will now whisper their name when you say JUMP and jump when you say NAME. (practice a few times with all of the commands)
  5. Explain that you are going to add new directions. When you say TOES, students will bend over and touch their toes and when you say SHAKE, students will shake their hands. (Practice a few times with all of the commands)
  6. Explain to students that they will now shake their hands when you say TOES, and they will touch their toes you say SHAKE. (Practice will all of the commands)

1, 2, 3,  Clap, Stomp, Snap

(great to use when students seem tired or are not paying attention, wakes up their brain)

  1. With a partner have students face each other and count back and forth up to 3 over and over again. (example partner 1 says 1, partner 2 says 2, partner 1 says 3, partner 2 says 1, partner 1 says 2, partner 2 says 3 and so on) Have students practice this.
  2. Explain instead of saying 1 they will clap but continue to say the other numbers. (example partner 1 claps, partner 2 says 2, partner 1 says 3, partner 2 claps, partner 1 says 2, partner 2 says 3 and so on) Have students practice this.
  3. Explain instead of saying 2 they will stomp. (example partner 1 claps, partner 2 stomps, partner 1 says 3, partner 2 claps, partner 1 stomps, partner 2 says 3 and so on) Have students practice this.
  4. Explain instead of saying 3 they will snap.  (example partner 1 claps, partner 2 stomps, partner 1 snaps, partner 2 claps, partner 1 stomps, partner 2 snaps and so on) Have students practice this.
